This policy was created in collaboration with numerous staff members within our school as well as related information with other schools in the Ottawa/Carleton area, from both the OCDSB and the OCCDSB School Boards.

The school’s dress code adheres to the following principles:

a) Respect for learning;
b) Decency;
c) Cleanliness;
d) Respect for the rights and dignity of others;
e) Safety of persons and property; and
f) Promotion of a drug and alcohol-free environment.

In compliance with the Government of Ontario’s Code of Conduct and the Policies and Procedures of the OCDSB (Policy P.104.SCO), the following is considered inappropriate dress:

1. Sexually explicit or revealing dress*

2. Dress with wording or graphics that is racist, sexist, profane or demeaning to another person

3. Dress with wording or graphics that advocates violence

4. Dress with wording or graphics that advocates the consumption of alcohol or illicit drugs

5. Dress that is recognized by the OCDSB Safe School Committee to be associated with gang membership, which include pocket chains, and bandanas.

6. Laser pens (Safe Schools Policy), cell phones and pagers (Board Policy)

*All students are asked to wear clothes that are clean and in good taste. The following are considered inappropriate:
