Academic Awards and
Scholarships
1. Valedictorian Award - to the graduating student who has been nominated by his or her peers and the Awards Committee for demonstrating academic excellence and outstanding leadership at Brookfield High School. 2. Governor General's Academic Medal - is awarded to the student who achieves the highest average upon graduation from a secondary school. At Brookfield the average is based on the final two years of the secondary program. Courses taken to upgrade marks are not to be included. 3. Lieutenant Governor's Community Volunteer Award - is awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated exemplary community involvement. 4. The Co-Presidents' Award - to a graduating student who has made an outstanding contribution to the Students' Council during the school year. 5. Leslie Daly Memorial Award - given in the final year of studies to a student who has realized his or her academic potential while showing dedication to the welfare of others in the community and/or in the school. 6. Raghu Dukkipati Award - presented to a Grade 11 student who is friendly and outgoing and who has done very well in Computer Science, Mathematics and English. 7. Michelle Pullyblank Memorial Award - presented to a graduating student for exceptional perseverance and courage demonstrated during his/her high school career. The recipient must have displayed that special spirit with which Michelle Pullyblank inspired all of us during her years at Brookfield High School. 8. Principal's Award - to the graduating student who, in the opinion of the Department Heads and Administration, has demonstrated outstanding leadership and involvement at Brookfield High School. 9. Brookfield High School Council Award - to the graduating student who is not returning to high school and who, in the opinion of the staff, has contributed significantly to the school. 10. OSSD Certificate of Merit List - graduates who have obtained 36 or more credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). 11. Honours Society List, Grades 9 & 10 - students with an 80% or more average based on their best eight subjects, at the end of the school year, at any grade or phase. 12. Honours Society List, Grade 11 - students with an 80% or more average 13. Ontario Scholar - Grade 12 students with an 80% or more average based on the best six U/M subjects (minimum 3U credits) taken. 14. Award of Excellence, Grades 9 & 10 - students with a 90% or more average based on their best eight subjects, at the end of the school year, at any grade or phase. Award of Excellence, Grade 11 - students with a 90% or more average based on their best seven subjects, at the end of the school year, at any grade or phase. OCDSB Silver Medal, Grade 12 - students with a 90% or more average based on their best six U/M subjects (minimum 3U credits) at the end of the school year at Brookfield. 15. Brookfield High School Citizenship Crest - will be awarded to graduating students who have accumulated the required number of points for outstanding participation in school activities. 16. Century Club - The Century Club honours the top 25 students from each grade level. Final marks for Semester One and mid-term marks from Semester Two are used to select the top 25 averages.
